八木澤教司はアジア諸国でとても人気のある作曲家であるが、特にシンガポールには多くのファンがいる。八木澤のシンガポールでの友人であるスティーヴン・プゥア氏の推薦もあり、イーシュン小学校コンサートバンドの委嘱作品として、この作品は2019年に作曲された。同バンドの指揮者はファイザル・ビィン・オスマン氏。同じく作曲者の友人であり、シンガポールを代表する吹奏楽指導者でもある。この作品は彼と同バンドに献呈されている。
尚、既にハル・レオナード・ヨーロッパ（デ・ハスケ）から出版されている「新たなる息吹き」「インスパイア！～夢見る子供の旅」に続く、同バンドのための委嘱シリーズ第３作目にあたる。
この作品のテーマは同小学校の応用学習プログラム（環境科学）として取り組まれている「蘭の花の交配」である。新しい蘭の交配種が開花するまでには何年も時間がかかる。国際蘭登録機関（The International Orchid Register）に「デンドロビウム・イーシュン小学校（Dendrobium Yishun Primary School）」として正式登録された功績を讃えている。困難や苦難を乗り越えて、希望のある未来へ向かう若き世代を応援するドラマチックな内容で作曲されている。

BLOOM THE GIFT OF SPRING – Satoshi Yagisawa (*1975, Japan) 

Composer Satoshi Yagisawa is very popular in Asia, and especially so in Singapore. He composed this piece in 2019 as a commission from the Yishun Primary School Concert Band on the recommendation of Steven Phua, a friend from Singapore. Another friend, Faizal Bin Othman, is conductor of the band and a leading figure in the wind band movement in Singapore. This work was dedicated to him and this Concert Band.
This commission is not the first from the band: Satoshi Yagisawa had previously composed A New Beginning and Inspire! , which are also published by De Haske Publications (Hal Leonard Europe).
The theme of this work is “Orchid Flower Hybridization,” which is an applied learning program (Environmental Science) at the primary school. It takes many years for new orchid hybrids to flower. This work honors the achievement of being officially registered as “Dendrobium Yishun Primary School” by The International Orchid Register. The dramatic mood of the piece is intended to inspire the next generation of students towards a hopeful future after overcoming difficulties and hardships.
