■解説 (Commentary)
亜細亜大学吹奏楽団委嘱作品。スコットランド本土最北端のダネット・ヘッドから北に10キロ弱、大西洋と北海の出会う冷たい海に浮かぶオークニー諸島は5000年前の「巨石の都」と言われている。特に最大の島メインランドには巨石時代の遺跡が多数残っている。最も大規模な遺跡は、ストーンサークル状の「ザ・リング・オブ・ブロッガー」で、スコットランドでは最大の規模を誇っている。直径103.6メートルのきれいな円形にかつて60の砂岩の石板が並んでいたという。世界遺産＆古代遺跡シリーズの第６作として、ケルト人の発祥の地を意識しつつトラマティクに描写されている。
