ファセクラ／八木澤教司東北福祉大学吹奏楽部委嘱シリーズ第８作。今回の作品のテーマは「支倉常長」。言うまでもなく約400年前の江戸時代初めに仙台藩主であった伊達政宗の命令によりサン・ファン・バウティスタ号でスペインに出航した人物です。支倉常長は大航海を通じて見たものは何か、日本とは異なる新たな地で何を感じたのかをイメージしたドラマチックな作品に仕上げています。仙台を活動の拠点とする学生さんたちにとって、この地の歴史や偉人を深く探りながら音楽に向かい合って欲しいという願いを込めて作曲しました。（八木澤教司）

FAXICVRA / Satoshi YAGISAWA
Commissioned by Tohoku Fukushi University Wind Ensemble.

FAXICVRA is a Latin name for Hasekura Tsunenaga, a samurai in Early Edo period. In the early 17th century, Date Masamune, Lord of the Sendai domain in Mutsu Province got permission on diplomatic negotiations between Spain and Japan. He built a galleon (a large sailing vessel) named “San Juan Bautista” and appointed Hasekura Tsunenaga as the ambassador for the journey.

Through Yagisawa’s imagination, he retraced the journey of Hasekura and compose this music for all to learn about this great person in Japanese diplomatic history.

The world premiere was performed by Tohoku Fukushi University Wind Ensemble and conducted by their band director, Mr. Matsuzaki Taken in May, 2015.
