Kobe College Wind Orchestra (KCWO) is established as one of the courses in the music department of Kobe College since 2019. It consists of undergraduates who major in music specialising in wind instruments and percussion and non-music major students (who are selected through auditions), instructors and associate musicians. KCWO holds regular community activities such as training lessons for junior and senior high schools bands and regular concerts twice a year. It also features special rehearsals with conductors, composers, professional musicians for the purpose of researching and exploration of new and old music.
In 2020, internationally renowned composer, Satoshi Yagisawa appointed as one of the instructors in the College. He collaborated with Hal Leonard Europe (de haske) to present Japan premieres in concerts and CD recordings of new works by prominent composers from Europe such as Philip Sparke and Thomas Doss. This allows KCWO to reach new heights through performing new repertoire, reaching to the world through the sounds of KCWO.
